The Forbidden Marriage Plot Synopsis
The plot of the drama follows the monarch of Joseon Lee Heon. His beloved wife died seven years ago when he was a crown prince. He has yet to fully recover from her passing. The royal family and government officials have been attempting to remarry King Lee Heon for the past seven years without success. A geumhonryung edict, which prohibits any single woman from getting married while the king is unmarried, has also been put into effect across the country. The marriage restriction has people in a rage. One day, King Lee Heon learns about Ye So-Rang, a woman who says the king’s late wife’s spirit exists in the palace.
Ye So-Rang is a con artist who claims to be able to read martial harmony signals. She is detained and imprisoned where Officer Lee Shin-Won works. She plays the part of being possessed by a spirit in front of Lee Shin-Won to escape her situation. She refers to the ghost of King Lee Heon’s late wife existing within the royal palace during her ruse. The monarch then asks her whether she can indeed see his late wife’s soul after having her brought before him. Ye So-Rang pretends that the late king’s wife is possessing her body to survive. The lies told by Ye So-Rang became bolder and more outrageous.
