Nam Joo-hyuk was born in Busan, South Korea, on February 22, 1994. He was aspired to be a professional basketball player during his time at Gyeongnam Middle School, so he joined the basketball team and played for three years. However, after suffering an injury and undergoing surgery, Nam’s basketball days were cut short. After relocating to Seoul, he won the K-Plus-sponsored Top Model competition. He secured an exclusive contract with the modelling agency not long after.
