The drama centres on a romance between two 20-year-old best friends who are now in their 30s. They unexpectedly cross paths while working on a reality dating show and fall in love. Gu Yeo-Reum works as a producer for TV variety shows. She has been a producer for the past ten years. Despite putting in more effort than other producers, all of the shows she produces seem to be failures. Then she chose to produce “The Kingdom of Love,” a brand-new reality TV show with a dating theme. Park Jae Hoon is a plastic surgeon who has lost all interest in his career. He has been her neighbour and best friend for twenty years. Although close, their relationship is only friendly. Park Jae Hoon has practically given up on love and is jaded by his experiences. He never pursues serious relationships; always casual ones.

Goo Yeo Reum had trouble finding appropriate men to appear on the show throughout the planning stage of the show’s production. She eventually reaches out in desperation to Park Jae Hoon. He consents to enter the show as a contestant in order to assist her.
